A few days ago, Paris welcomed the Olympic Flame, unfortunately in a very controversial context (China & Tibet issue). Actually it was not the first time the Olympic Flame was dansed to Paris. Who remembers 1900 and 1924 ? Two dates for Olympic Games held in France and Paris.
It is a French citzen, Pierre de Coubertin, who proposed the revival of the ancient Olympic Games and created in 1894 the International Olympic Committee (IOC).It was also decided that the first of these IOC-organized Olympics would take place in Athens (Greece) and that they would be held every four years.
You'll find below a few words used in French language. Surprisingly, we use specific French words (like "aviron" for "rowing") but also original English words (like Softball, Football, Handball...).
