Podcasts are audio and video files that you can download from the internet to play on your iPod. These files are free to download and cover every form of subject you can imagine from news and comedy to offerings from new unknown bands who want to publicize their music to name but a few. Podcasts are normally published in episodes and are updated frequently.

Listening to a podcast on your iPod is as easy as listening to music. The steps you need to take to listen to a podcast are to subscribe to the podcast, load it onto your iPod and then play the podcast so you can listen to it. You will find below a step by step outline of how to do these things.

You can find podcasts in the iTunes store; simply click on the store icon which is found in the list on the left of your screen. You can also find podcasts on other websites, type podcast into your search engine and you will find podcast directories and other sites with links to podcasts.

Once you subscribe to a podcast from the iTunes store or another website it will be automatically be added to your library. There is a “podcasts” tab on the source list.

Connect your iPod to your computer via the USB cable or your iPod dock to load the podcast to your iPod. Once your iPod is connected to your computer click on the iPod icon, open the settings menu and find and click on the tab labeled podcasts. This will bring up more options click on the sync podcast episodes tab and then choose which episodes of which podcasts you want downloaded (synced) to your iPod, and then click apply. Disconnect your iPod after it has updated.

To find your podcast navigate through the menu, choose menu and then podcasts then select the episode you want to hear. If you want to view a video podcast choose video and then video podcasts or you will only hear the audio.
