Podcasts which are downloadable files containing content like news stories, radio shows or music is the latest trend on the internet. iPhone owners can download podcasts in a few simple steps and add these useful or entertaining files to the other functions available with their iPhones.

To begin downloading podcasts connect your iPhone to your computer using the cord that was provided in your iPhone package. You can connect your phone to your home or work computer or laptop, or any other device in which you have legal podcasts.

Open your iTunes library and click on the transfer purchases icon to start your podcasts downloading. Clicking this button will allow you to transfer podcast subscriptions and archived files that you have purchased. It will not be possible to download podcasts that do not have rights or copyright protections as neither iTunes nor your iPhone will allow these files to download.

To avoid transferring bulk amounts of material to your iPhone you should check the podcasts in your iTunes library and only download the episodes you want. The audio library in iTunes will let you sort the files by file size download date and other factors which will assist you in deciding which files you want to keep.

You can choose to set the automatic sync option in iTunes so that your iPhone automatically downloads the latest updates of your podcasts when it is connected to the computer.

It is recommended you delete podcasts after you have listened to them to ensure that you will not run out of memory when syncing further downloads. Podcasts can be quite large and deleting old ones will ensure you always have room to sync.

To select a podcast to listen to you select your iPod menu (located near the bottom of the main menu) and click on the file name of the podcast, this will bring up the audio options.

You can fast forward and rewind through the podcasts using your iPhone; after you have done this the screen will clear allowing you to again perform other functions whilst still listening to the podcast.
