An empty street in Paris ?

Translate this text from English to French
“The streets of Paris are never as empty as this. But you have to admit that even such a sight can be lovely. France is a very beautiful city filled with tall buildings and modern streets. But you’ll definitely see a touch of the medieval era all around. This lamppost is just one of the reminders of such era. And you will see many of them lighting the roads at night, guiding both motorists and pedestrians. Explore Paris either during the day or during the night. You will surely have the time of your life while you’re there.”

Dictation: “Le Père Goriot”

Today we picked up a text from French novelist Balzac ( 1799-1850 ) : “Le Père Goriot”. It is the story of Eugène de Rastignac, the character at the center of the action, a slightly idealistic and highly ambitious law student who lives in the same rundown boarding house in a seedy area of Paris as Goriot. This novel was written around 1834-1835. Just click below to listen to the dictation in French, and try to type what you hear. Good luck !

Hurry up : the train is there

Translate this text from English to French
“Underground train stations are a plenty in France. This beautiful shot of Paris’s long and fast rail transport shows how advanced and modern the infrastructure in and around the city really is. This green and white painted train can carry hundreds of passengers each trip. And it could take you to the next station in a matter of a few seconds. So if you need to go somewhere and you need to get there fast, just look for the nearest train station and take the next ride.”
